Tree Felling and Removal
The two main methods Land Logistics use to remove your trees are directional felling and sectional dismantling.
Directional felling:
Land Logistics qualified arborists cut wedges into the trunk so your tree falls to the ground safely. This controls the direction of the fall and protects nearby properties and structures etc.
Sectional dismantling:
When the tree is removed piece-by-piece, from the top down, and limbs lowered to the ground using rigging equipment which should only be done by our trained tree specialists.
Tree Maintenance
Crown Lifting:
This form of arboriculture clears space below the crown of the tree and leaves routes clear for pedestrians, traffic, and machinery to pass safely. Removal of the lower branches and trimming inside the foliage reduces the overall weight of the crown. This encourages the canopy to lift naturally to a desired height.
Crown Reductions:
A much better practice for tree health than tree topping. The process when foliage from the outside edges of the crown are cut back thus reducing the overall size and shape of the tree. This form of arboriculture is referred to as crown reduction and uses cuts to a bud or at the very least to the closest point of a partnering limb. This helps reduce the stress on the tree leaving it less prone to decay and disease. The reasons for a reduction is to shape the crown, reduce the canopy weight and prevent limbs from breaking during strong winds.
Crown Thinning:
Land Logistics uses crown thinning to relieve congestion, reduce wind resistance, remove dead wood and let light pass through the canopy – a benefit that encourages healthy growth of plant life underneath the canopy on surrounding land.
Stump Grinding:
All forms of tree removal leave a stump. As the roots start to decompose, the root can sometimes encounter issues with honey fungus and suckering. The tree stump can cause safety issues acting as a tripping hazard or causing issues with lawn mowing and can hinder landscaping and development. Stump grinding and stump pulling reduces what was left of the trunk to below ground level.
